About this yoga retreat
A week of Iyengar yoga focusing on attention to detail and alignment, with time for rest, reflection, and quiet surroundings in Southern Crete, Greece.
The purpose of this retreat is to help students understand how an attentive approach to asana (yoga postures) creates space in the body, breath, and mind.
Through careful instruction and consistent practice, postures become a tool for observation and stability. This approach allows you to work within your own physical structure, developing awareness in a grounded and practical way.

Is this the right retreat for you?
This retreat is for you if you are ready to:
Slow down and reset your rhythm
A space for rest, reflection, and a rhythm aligned with nature.
Learn precise, structured alignment
Understand each posture step by step with precise, attentive, gentle guidance.
Reconnect through quiet and nature
Simple surroundings, silence, and time outdoors that support connection with oneself.
Deepen your practice with patience
Develop a sustainable, sensitive towards your needs practice that you can continue long after the retreat.
Your teacher
Eugenia is an Iyengar yoga teacher with over 20 years of experience. Her teaching is rooted in clarity, precision, and careful observation of each student’s individual physical needs.
She works with attention to detail, adapting the practice to support stability, understanding, and long-term development.
“The focus of this retreat is to explore how the practice of postures becomes a tool for awareness of body, breath, and mind — supporting a more easeful and joyful way of living.”
What you will experience
• 4-hour daily Iyengar yoga practice
Through precise use of props (wall ropes, bolsters, blocks, belts), you release deep-seated tension in the hips, back, neck, and shoulders, addressing the postural imbalances of modern life.
• Guided grounding meditation
Each day begins with a breath-awareness meditation, building a stable foundation that weaves itself throughout your asana practice.
• Learn the principle of “effortless effort”
You will learn that alignment is not a static state, rather an ever-changing relationship of the different body parts in relation to each other and to gravity; an aligned state leads to a state of ease.
• Time for integration
A balanced rhythm of practice, rest, shared meals, and visits to secluded beaches, such as Sweet Water.

Posted on Jan Burns Gorgeous yoga centre in a stunning location. The inside-outside studio is so well equipped… ropes for everyone!! The team are warm and wonderfully organised. Nothing is too much trouble. Once inside the arched gate to Yoga on Crete you feel you are at home. A huge thank you and see you next year.Posted on Rachel Lovegrove I regularly run yoga retreats here and couldn't recommend this place more. The hospitality from Eugenia, Nikos and her team is outstanding - one of the best retreat centres I've been to. From the warmest of welcomes, to the facilities, food, yoga space and continual support during our retreat for all our guests is second to none. Chora Sfakion is the perfect place for a chilled vibe holiday and Yoga on Crete the perfect setting for a yoga retreat. Can't wait for the next one.Posted on Dorrit Kromann With Eugenia, Nikos, and Tassos, our family had such a wonderful yoga retreat. 🙏❤️ It left us feeling grounded and full of energy—a beautiful yin balance to the busy yang of the outside world. Our stomachs were filled with exquisite Greek treats and plenty of vegetarian inspiration. Sfakia is a hidden gem on the rugged, beautiful coast, embraced by majestic mountains, where our local guide Vangelis has known his way around since childhood. Yoga on Crete is not just worth a detour—it’s worth a dedicated stay to nourish your body, soul, and stomach. 🙏🌟Posted on Nemo Nemo A yoga retreat at Yoga on Crete is probably the most nurturing gift anyone could give themselves. You will receive wonderful yoga in idyllic W.Crete accessible to all no matter what stage your practice is at. But most importantly you will be welcomed by Eugenia and Nikos into an unique environment of kindness and generosity which permeates everything. You will leave renewed an energized an wanting to come back for more. Francis. Ireland This year 2024 I attended the Iyengar workshop given by Constantinos. It was a revelation. C delivered an insightful workshop exploring the anatomy/physiology through the lens of yogic asana practice. I left with a deeper understanding of the structures and principles underlying each movement, and techniques to gently extend joint movement and range. As always all was warmly hosted by Eugenia and Nikos and their team in an atmosphere of kindness and welcoming . Francis Ireland Sept. 2024 I attended Eugenia's retreat this October and I can only re-iterate what I have said before .........I was renewed and energised by the experience which is always a joy to partake in. I will return again to drink from this well of kindness, nurturing and wonderful yoga. Francis Ireland Oct. 2025Posted on Debbie Cooper I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Yoga On Crete with a lovely group of yogis and our wonderful hosts. The beautiful house and garden being a perfect for eating the amazing vegetarian meals together (some of the group were staying in nearby accommodation. The brunch and evening meal were made with so much care and attention resulting in a delicious array of such tasty food. It was such a joy to sit overlooking the village, out to the sea and over to the nearby mountains before and after the yoga sessions chatting or enjoying a tasty herbal tea. I stayed in the ground floor twin room which is delightful and airy with a small mezzanine area and en-suite. The bed was very comfortable and it was great having the choice between air con and a ceiling fan or just having the windows open. Constantinos is a very accomplished yoga teacher who shares his technical knowledge of the human body with warmth and gentle humour. His passion for yoga and wellbeing is evident and he clearly continues to build his knowledge and teaching style. I learnt a lot from him, particularly breathing practices and micro internal body movements which resulted in me feeling taller with an improved posture. The yoga studio is brilliant with ropes and all the equipment you need for Iyengar yoga although during our week we didn’t practise many Asanas. I liked that you could be undercover or outside on the deck by olive trees. Apart from yoga a small group of us walked the Imbros gorge where we saw duelling goats, a friendly donkey and dramatic scenery. I also visited Loutro which is a pretty, unspoilt village with lots of tavernas, shops and bars along the sea front. It was also lovely to visit Sweet Water beach where we saw goats and ducks on the beach as well as enjoying a dip in the beautiful blue sea. It was great having the village with it’s tavernas, shops and bakeries and the small village beach nearby. Thank you for a wonderful experience - NamastePosted on JPh. T. Un vrai bonheur! Je recomande vivement et sans hésitation Yoga On CretePosted on Ellen Jacobs Nikos and Eugenia have a super organized program for Iyengar programs. Eugenia was very clear in all her instructions and I learned new techniques despite 45 years of practicing yoga. I got a lot out of the retreat.Posted on France Lacroix This yoga center is one of the best I have visited in the world! I have been practicing yoga for 4 decades now and have been to several yoga retreats over the years. Both the greatness of Eugenia as a Iyengar yoga teacher and as a kind, receptive person made my experience in Sfakia marvellous. The entire team at yogaoncrete are very attentive and fabulous.Posted on hilde demeulenaere Fantastic place with great teacher
