About this workshop

From external alignment to the awareness of internal space

Over the week, we work first with external alignment – the visible structure of each posture. This becomes the foundation for noticing what happens inside: how the breath moves, how the spine carries weight, how the body finds ease within effort. We use precise techniques drawn from 30 years of teaching to bring this awareness into both asana and pranayama.

The workshop’s aim is to encourage students to become more receptive and independent, and able to develop their own personal practice. In other words: by the end of the week, you should have tools you can keep using long after you go home.

Each class ends with a 10-minute deep relaxation.

The teaching is guided by our deep respect for the Iyengar yoga tradition, while we remain open to scientific and experiential advances that keep the practice alive and offer tools for deepening the students’ understanding. We prioritise the student’s unique body and experience over rigid rules. The teaching is precise yet compassionate and adaptive, creating a safe environment for every individual.

Is this the right retreat for you?

Four things this workshop offers:

Refine your practice with precision

Develop a clearer sense of how structure and alignment support stability and ease – through detailed guidance and time to integrate.

Learn the language of pranayama and internal space

Explore breath-work and the subtle internal dynamics of asana — areas often missing from general yoga classes.

Release deep-seated tension safely

Through systematic use of props: wall ropes, bolsters, belts, blocks – work with the spine, hips, shoulders without strain or pressure to perform.

Practice without rush, surrounded by quiet

Two sessions a day, time to rest between them, no group exercises beyond yoga. Simple surroundings designed to support attention, not distract from it.

Your teacher

This retreat is guided by Constantinos, a dedicated Iyengar yoga teacher with over 30 years of experience in yoga, whose work is rooted in clarity, precision, and deep respect for individual experience.

He teaches in English and Greek, with breath and alignment as the tools – not as goals in themselves, but as ways into clearer awareness of body and mind.

Constantinos’ classes offer a safe, supportive environment, drawing on years of teaching experience and ongoing study.

Dates

Daily rhythm

Each day begins with an 8.30-11.30 am workshop-style yoga class, followed by brunch and beach-time. In the late afternoon, we explore alignment, breath, and subtle sensations in a second 2-hour class, and the day ends with dinner.

Know before you go

It is designed to address the physical imbalances of modern life.

Using the
Iyengar yoga method’s precision, we focus on spinal alignment and structural health.

Through the strategic use of
props (including wall ropes / yoga kurunta, bricks, blocks, bolsters, belts, etc.), and starting with a series of basic asanas (yoga postures), we see how also advanced postures can be approached with “effortless effort”, allowing you to release deep-seated tension, especially in the hips, back, neck, and shoulders.

You will learn how to feel when the body is in a state of alignment and ease, in order to prevent pain and support long-term mobility.

Most guests fly into Chania (CHQ), which has direct connections from a number of European cities. From there, we’ll help you arrange the final transfer to Chora Sfakion.

Taxi transfers to and from the airport can be arranged on request and, whenever possible, shared with other guests.

Transfers are not included in the retreat price.

If you prefer, we can help you arrange a hired car to meet you at the airport.

Please let us know your arrival details as soon as you book your flights.

Please bring comfortable clothing for practice (we practice barefoot), a swimming costume and towel, and walking shoes for optional hikes.

Sun protection and mosquito repellent are recommended. A small torch can be useful, as village paths have limited lighting at night.

We kindly ask guests to use natural soaps and shampoos to help protect the surroundings (available locally).

Indoor slippers or flip-flops are useful, as we follow a no-shoes policy inside the house.

And last but not least — don’t forget to bring your smile!

If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know in advance. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

To reserve your place, a €400 deposit is required after availability is confirmed.

Full payment details, cancellation terms, and accepted payment methods are available in our Retreat Terms and Cancellation Policy.
