Voices from YogaOnCrete
Words shared by guests who have spent time with us — practicing, resting, and living together in Chora Sfakion.
“I’m grateful to have learnt some of the principles of yoga (which are rarely taught in the world of yoga teaching). Some of the principles apply to life outside yoga too. Constantinos has a talent for adjusting his teaching to the ability/level and personalities of those attending the lessons. The material is tricky as it starts of very slow. But the crucial thing for any yoga teacher is to gain trust so that the students receive the teachings in a deeper way, and he successfully did this.”

“Eugenia teaches to all levels from physical inwards and I love that. Iyengar yoga is not what I do normally, but her approach makes it a practice where I learn so much that is important: to slow right down, to notice and observe, to pay attention, to find space, to find the right point in all the balances between different processes – all of which is so important for life as well as for yoga. She teaches with grace and joy and kindness for all and it is such a privilege to have been in her classes – and I feel there is so much more still to learn. Thank you so much.”

“Yoga-on-Crete was exactly the experience I needed but so much more than I dreamed! I came to this retreat because it is held in a beautiful village on Crete where I once lived, many years ago. I always wanted to return and see it again. But I was amazed to find the retreat and yoga practice so incredible and inspiring! Eugenia is a fantastic yoga teacher and I found a wonderful deepening and growth in my yoga. Eugenia and her husband Nikos provide a welcoming and beautiful experience, the food was amazing! And the other participants in the group are important new friends / sisters on the journey of life. I highly recommend it and would go back again when I can! I am so thankful to Eugenia, Nikos, Maria and Alex!”

“Anyone looking for a yoga holiday in Greece, look no further! This place is so much better than you imagine when you see it on the website. The house is absolutely beautiful, owned by architects and reflects style, good living, and warmth. Lovely courtyard where we have our meals. Beautiful view. 5 mins walk to the lovely village. Go to Despina for coffee and cakes, they are phenomenal! The food here was amazing, not only good but also very good looking. I did yoga with Eugenia, I’m not normally a fan of Iyengar yoga but have come to love it through Eugenia’s teaching. There are some breathtaking beaches around here too!”

Posted on Nemo Nemo A yoga retreat at Yoga on Crete is probably the most nurturing gift anyone could give themselves. You will receive wonderful yoga in idyllic W.Crete accessible to all no matter what stage your practice is at. But most importantly you will be welcomed by Eugenia and Nikos into an unique environment of kindness and generosity which permeates everything. You will leave renewed an energized an wanting to come back for more. Francis. Ireland This year 2024 I attended the Iyengar workshop given by Constantinos. It was a revelation. C delivered an insightful workshop exploring the anatomy/physiology through the lens of yogic asana practice. I left with a deeper understanding of the structures and principles underlying each movement, and techniques to gently extend joint movement and range. As always all was warmly hosted by Eugenia and Nikos and their team in an atmosphere of kindness and welcoming . Francis Ireland Sept. 2024 I attended Eugenia's retreat this October and I can only re-iterate what I have said before .........I was renewed and energised by the experience which is always a joy to partake in. I will return again to drink from this well of kindness, nurturing and wonderful yoga. Francis Ireland Oct. 2025Posted on Debbie Cooper I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Yoga On Crete with a lovely group of yogis and our wonderful hosts. The beautiful house and garden being a perfect for eating the amazing vegetarian meals together (some of the group were staying in nearby accommodation. The brunch and evening meal were made with so much care and attention resulting in a delicious array of such tasty food. It was such a joy to sit overlooking the village, out to the sea and over to the nearby mountains before and after the yoga sessions chatting or enjoying a tasty herbal tea. I stayed in the ground floor twin room which is delightful and airy with a small mezzanine area and en-suite. The bed was very comfortable and it was great having the choice between air con and a ceiling fan or just having the windows open. Constantinos is a very accomplished yoga teacher who shares his technical knowledge of the human body with warmth and gentle humour. His passion for yoga and wellbeing is evident and he clearly continues to build his knowledge and teaching style. I learnt a lot from him, particularly breathing practices and micro internal body movements which resulted in me feeling taller with an improved posture. The yoga studio is brilliant with ropes and all the equipment you need for Iyengar yoga although during our week we didn’t practise many Asanas. I liked that you could be undercover or outside on the deck by olive trees. Apart from yoga a small group of us walked the Imbros gorge where we saw duelling goats, a friendly donkey and dramatic scenery. I also visited Loutro which is a pretty, unspoilt village with lots of tavernas, shops and bars along the sea front. It was also lovely to visit Sweet Water beach where we saw goats and ducks on the beach as well as enjoying a dip in the beautiful blue sea. It was great having the village with it’s tavernas, shops and bakeries and the small village beach nearby. Thank you for a wonderful experience - NamastePosted on JPh. T. Un vrai bonheur! Je recomande vivement et sans hésitation Yoga On CretePosted on Ellen Jacobs Nikos and Eugenia have a super organized program for Iyengar programs. Eugenia was very clear in all her instructions and I learned new techniques despite 45 years of practicing yoga. I got a lot out of the retreat.Posted on France Lacroix This yoga center is one of the best I have visited in the world! I have been practicing yoga for 4 decades now and have been to several yoga retreats over the years. Both the greatness of Eugenia as a Iyengar yoga teacher and as a kind, receptive person made my experience in Sfakia marvellous. The entire team at yogaoncrete are very attentive and fabulous.Posted on hilde demeulenaere Fantastic place with great teacherPosted on Peter Sailer Great yoga, great place and most lovely hostsPosted on Vivian Boer This was my third retreat at Yoga on Crete and it was again a healing, magical and rejuvenating experience. Beautiful people, excellent yoga classes, delicious food and a wonderful location. It is always a joy to be with Eugenia & Nikos and their team, thank you for being such great hosts 💛Posted on Franziska A beautiful place... when you open the front door, you feel like you're entering paradise. The rooms are lovingly designed and nothing is missing. The people there are just lovely, I felt welcome right away and that didn't change throughout my stay. The chef is excellent, the meals are varied and prepared with a lot of love – kudos to the chef :) I was there to attend an Iyengar yoga course with Constantinos... and what can I say... it was the best I've ever had. An exceptionally good teacher – I learned a lot. Thank you all for the wonderful time!
